The project was launched as a result of Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko's visit to the commodity exchange. The main goals of the project are to improve effectiveness and diversify the export of Belarusian sugar, which is primarily sold to Russia at the moment.
This year we have consumed 380,000 tonnes of sugar, including a number of peak moments caused by an increased demand in summer and spring. With this in mind, we plan to put at least 400,000 tonnes in storage to provide the domestic market with sugar in an uninterrupted quantity and in sufficient volume,” said Oleg Zhidkov.
There is sufficient sugar stock in the country. The reserve stock exceeds the estimated demand by 20,000-25,000 tonnes, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he visited Gorodeya Sugar Refinery.
