Wyndham lost six race days and Gore lost five. Reducing racetrack numbers and moving affected race days to other venues is part of the rationalisation of New Zealand’s racing industry. In the calendar for next season, the Wyndham club has been allocated six race days, including the meeting it holds at Cromwell in January. The Gore club has been given four race days – two grass track meetings at Gore and two to be held at Wyndham. Two of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s race days next season will be held at Wyndham. After being told they were losing race days for this season the Wyndham and Gore Harness Racing Clubs joined forces to present a case to Harness Racing New Zealand to have the meetings returned.
