Former ABC News investigative journalist James Gordon Meek has been sentenced to six years in prison for possessing child pornography. Meek, 53, was caught sending and receiving explicit content involving prepubescent minors during a 2020 visit to South Carolina. Prosecutors revealed that Meek possessed several electronic devices containing images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit content. They stated that he solicited individuals online for the purpose of sharing his collection for sexual gratification. Meek also engaged in inappropriate conversations with minors, even pretending to be a minor. FBI agents discovered evidence dating back to 2014 during their investigation. Meek's attorney argued for a minimum sentence, claiming his client's reporting on terrorism had affected his mental health.
