Feature: Decade after earthquake, Chinese heartwarming deeds still remembered in Japan - World News

2021-03-11 15:06:01 GMT2021-03-11 23:06:01(Beijing Time) Xinhua English TOKYO, March 11 (Xinhua) Ten years have passed since a massive earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan s northeastern coast and left more than 15,000 people dead. At the time of the disaster, many Chinese people had lent a helping hand, and their deeds still warm the hearts of Japanese people now. Kesennuma city, once a famous fishing port and tourist resort in Miyagi Prefecture of Japan, was engulfed by the tsunami following the magnitude-9.0 earthquake on March 11, 2011. Upon learning the disaster, China provided relief materials and sent rescue teams to the disaster-hit areas including Miyagi Prefecture. Donations and materials from Chinese people were also sent to the victims.
