Zambo City logs 95% recoveries, stays under Alert Level 1

(PNA file photo) ZAMBOANGA CITY - This city has tallied a total of 27,918 recoveries or a 95.64 percent recovery rate since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the City Health Office (CHO) said Wednesday. In a statement, the CHO said the city has recorded 29,189 cumulative cases, 25 active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), and 1,246 deaths. Of the total recoveries, 26,347 are from the community; 416, detainees; 379, locally stranded individuals (LSIs); 361, authorized persons outside residence (APOR); 217, persons deprived of liberty (PDL); 89, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel; 72, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor); 33, returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs); four returning residents from Malaysia. Speaking to President Rodrigo R. Duterte during the Talk to the People briefing Monday night, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano reported that the number decreased by almost half from 605 areas last week. "From 210 barangays last week, the number of barangays affected by granular lockdowns has dropped to 153. From 744 affected households, we only have 355. Only 499 individuals have so far been affected," Ano said. He added that the number of places under granular lockdown is expected to drop as the government is intensifying its vaccination drive. Confirmed deaths due to Odette rise to 81

(File photo) MANILA - The number of deaths confirmed during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette has climbed to 81, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday. In its latest report, the agency also said the number of confirmed injuries and missing persons due to the typhoon are at 188 and six, respectively. Still undergoing validation are reports of 324 dead along with 1,073 injured and 65 missing. Most of the confirmed deaths are from Western Visayas at 46; Eastern Visayas - 16; Mimaropa, 12; Northern Mindanao, four; Central Visayas, two and the Zamboanga Peninsula, one.
