Shuffling of School Psychologists in Goleta District Causes Concern Among Parents

She said Goleta Union has 10 school psychologists, one for every school site, and that all of them are fully credentialed and well-trained. She said most of them have additional training and certifications, and all of them are entirely capable of providing services to any student.
Mental health professionals are trained to transition services between clinicians while maintaining a continuity of care, Lew said. GUSD has a unique commitment to the socio-emotional learning and mental well-being of our students.

Goleta Union School District Selects Diana Roybal as Next Superintendent

“Dr. Roybal has a proven track record of promoting academic success, professional learning communities among teachers, and parent engagement,” Goleta board President Luz Reyes-Martín said. “She brings outstanding experience in instruction, innovation, and is an equity-minded leader.” 
Roybal earned a doctorate of education in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix, an educational specialist degree in administration and educational leadership from the University of Colorado, a master’s degree in curriculum and instructional design from Colorado Christian University, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Colorado Christian University.

The Central Coast is desperate for substitute teachers.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Santa Barbara County Education Office told our team that California saw declining applications for substitute teachers. However, starting in March 2020, administrators say even fewer substitutes wanted to step into Zoom or in-person classes.
Central Coast school districts got creative when it came to recruiting and training new substitute teachers. At the Santa Barbara County Office of Education, there were 91 substitute teachers prior to the lockdown, which decreased to 36 last May. ....
