Ranchi: Police arrested five supporters of People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a breakaway faction of CPI (Maoist), following a special operation under Angara police station in Ranchi. Rural SP Naushad Alam said the rebels were arrested when they were holding a meeting with their sympathizers to expand their base in a village on the outskirts of the capital. Those held were identified as former PLFI area commander Dev Singh Munda, Golden Yadav, Suraj Mahto, Sahjad Ansari and Aslam Khan. Three country-made pistols, cartridges and three mobile phones have been seized from the rebels. Alam said, “Acting on a tip-off, we raided Jonha Musungu Pudi village where Munda was holding a meeting. During interrogation, the accused informed that they were planning to make extortion calls and collect levy, among others.” Eight cases were registered against Munda and seven against Yadav at various police stations of Ranchi district. ....
