There s discussions going on among us in the military about extending. Our hope is we will not have to extend. There will be discussions i suspect on how far along we are in the process. Reporter: a taliban spokesman called any extension a red line and a provocation. There have been desperate and violent scenes outside of kabul s airport but the president stands by his decision for a quick u. S. Withdrawal from afghanistan. We have evacuated nearly 28,000 people since august 14th. Bringing the total number of people we evacuated since july to approximately 33,000 persons. We are proving we can move thousands of people a day out of kabul. We have a long way to go. And a lot could still go wrong.
