Vigilantes busts gang that robbed teenager in Bayelsa

The 15-years-old girl was standing by the roadside close to the market, waiting to board a tricycle home after buying all she needed in the market when the three-member gang accosted her and collected her money in broad daylight.
“After they collected the money, I raised the alarm that drew the attention of the vigilante. I didn’t even know that vigilante boys were around. It was at that point I saw them chasing the criminals and apprehended them close to the roundabout as they tried to escape.”
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the arrest, the chairman of the State Vigilante Service, Doubiye Alagba, used the medium to warn other criminals who operate within the Tombia roundabout axis and other parts of the state to choose a new leaf of life or face the full wrath of the law. ....

Three arrested for stealing N5,000 from 15-year-old girl in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Vigilante Service on Thursday arrested 28-year-old Godwin Sunday, 21-yer-old Anna Samuel and and 23-year-old Better Okorie for allegedly robbing N5,000 from a 15-year-old girl, Boma Sunday, at the ever-busy Tombia Market in Yenagoa Local Government Council.
The 15-year-old was said to be waiting by the roadside to board a tricycle home when the three-member gang accosted her and collected her money at gunpoint.
“After they collected the money I raised the alarm that drew the attention of the vigilante. I didn’t even know that they were around. It was at that point I saw them chasing the criminals and apprehended them inside the market as they tried to escape,” Sunday added. ....

Court remands 13 over attack on Akeredolu's entourage in Ondo

The Magistrates Court sitting at Oke-Eda, Akure, Ondo State capital, has remanded 13 persons to the Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID) custody for allegedly attacking the entourage of the Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu.
The accused include Akinola Segun, 21; Akinmolayan Sunday 30; Dele Oni, 47; Tommy Oluseyi, 44; Akinbi Odunayo, 25; Akinbadewa Michael, 22; Ahmed Onabanjo, 30, and Akinduro Akinjo, 31.
Others include Olowolowo Blessing, 25; Godwin Sunday, 30; Akintomide Adeleye, 22; Ojo Temitope, 20 and Smart Babatunde, 21.
The 13 accused were charged on three counts of conspiracy, willful and unlawful damage of three vehicles in the Governor’s entourage.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Mary Adebayo said all the accused allegedly committed the offences at about 1:45 pm, on February 25, 2021, at Idanre town, in the Ondo State Magisterial District. ....
