The Bootleg Fire has grown to 76,897 acres. So far 580 fire personnel have been on the site of the fire, and there is no containment. The cause of the fire is still unknown at this point. Evacuations: At the recommendation of the Bootleg Fire Incident Commander, the following are the current evacuation levels issued by Klamath County Emergency Management: Level 3 (Go) – Leave immediately (NEW) North of the town of Beatty. KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. – The Bootleg Fire in Klamath County continues to grow. The fire was first reported at about 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7 on Fuego Mountain approximately 11 miles northeast of Sprague River. By about 5:00 p.m., the fire was estimated to be about 100 acres in size. By Wednesday morning, it expanded to 3,000 acres. Thursday morning, that number was 16,814 acres and 1% contained. On Thursday evening, the upper Tableland area was placed on a Level 3 (GO!) evacuation notification. Level 2 (Get Set) notifications were issued for areas to the east of the upper Tableland. Level 1 (Get Ready) notifications are in place for Sycan Estates north of the town of Beatty, residents north of Drew Road near Sprauge River, and Godawa Springs Road north of Beatty. ....

The fire is now estimated to be 11,000 acres with no containment, officials said Wednesday night. It was reported around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday and the cause is under investigation. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain, in mixed conifer and lodgepole pine. Fire behavior is extreme and includes running, torching, and spotting. Movement and fire growth Wednesday was observed to be moving mostly to the south and southeast. ....
