Abia govt commends Methodist Church for leading in fight against COVID-19

Speaking during a special sensitization meeting with Presbyters at St James Methodist Church, Umuda Isingwu, the state Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, applauded the work of Archbishop Chibuzo Okpoko.
He described him as the leading warrior among clergymen in the state whose efforts have helped to save thousands of Abia lives through his focused campaign for citizens to take preventive measures as a way of combating the spread of the disease.
Chief Okiyi further called on clergy men in the state to emulate Archbishop Okpoko and use the pulpit and other resources available to them to guide their congregations on taking personal responsibility for their protection and that of their family members through wearing of face mask, observance of social distancing, regular washing of hands under ....

FG, states asked to connect all Nigerians to internet

Media Rights Agenda (MRA) on Tuesday urged federal and state governments to formulate plans to get all Nigerians connected to the Internet.
The organization, in a statement on the Safer Internet Day, said authorities should also ensure citizens’ safety online regardless of age, gender, social or economic status.
MRA contended that general internet connectivity would fulfil government’s principal role in line with Section 14(2)(b) of the constitution: “The security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government”.
The Communications Officer, Idowu Adewale, said given the global impact of the internet in the last few decades, lack of access has far-reaching negative implications and consequences for those deprived. ....
