It's a resounding fail for Gloriavale Christian school according to its latest ERO report card. The private school operates out of the secretive community on the West coast of the South Island about 60km east of Greymouth. Former leaders and members have been convicted of child abuse and the employment court recently ruled young people who worked long hours in extremely punishing conditions since they were children were in fact employees and not volunteers. Now according to the Education Review Office report, the school's list of failings is long and serious. Not all the school's managers have passed a fit and proper persons assessment. And ERO is not assured the health and safety of students is being sufficiently monitored.
