Analysis: Critical that more workers in long-term care get vaccinated

On March 1, U.S. public health authorities learned of a COVID-19 outbreak at a Kentucky long-term care centre where most of the residents had been fully vaccinated. In total, 26 residents were infected and 20 health workers.
Among the infected residents, 18 had received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Most who tested positive did not develop symptoms, but one of the vaccinated residents died. Of the 20 workers, four had been vaccinated.

“Although COVID-19 mRNA vaccines (like the Pfizer one) demonstrated high efficacy in clinical trials, they were not 100 per cent efficacious,” concludes the study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Thus, some infections post-vaccination are expected.” ....
