Downings native, John Cronin is set to take charge of the Ladies Pole Vault on Saturday evening. The former Glenree AC National Track Champion is a Track and Field Referee at the European Indoor Track and Field Championships in Torun, Poland. Finn Harps is delighted to announce the signings of Joel Bradley Walsh, Lee McLaughlin and Ronan Gallagher. The three have been ever-present for Tommy Canning’s u19s side last season and have come through the academy ranks in the past few years. Joel Bradley Walsh Joel joined Finn Harps Academy u17s from Cappry Rovers in 2018. A centre back that can also play on the left, Bradley-Walsh has captained the U19s squad for the past two seasons. The defender was a part of the u17s squad who won the National League double in 2018 under Declan Boyle. Joel told club media: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for the Senior team. I’ve worked really hard since joining the academy and have followed the pathway. Thankfully it worked, and now I can push on and try to get some minutes under my belt. I want to thank my current and former coaches for their time and their help.” ....

The death has taken place in Glasgow of Neill McBride; Formerly of The Glebe, Downings. His remains will arrive at his sister, Teresa’s residence in Glenree, Carrigart this evening; Wednesday at approximately 5pm. Funeral from there on Friday going to the Church of St John the Baptist for Requiem Mass at 11am, which can be viewed live on the Mevagh Parish Facebook Page with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Due to HSE and Government guidelines, wake and funeral are private to family and close friends only. ....
