Cancellation of Children’s Countryside Day and Glendale Show It is with very heavy hearts that Chairman Andrew Walton and the Board of Trustees of Glendale Agricultural Society have made the difficult decision to cancel the Children’s Countryside Day and Glendale Show. Scheduled to take place on Thursday 10th June and Monday 30th August 2021 respectively. Attracting hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors each year these are the Society’s two major annual events and also two of north Northumberland’s major showcases. GLENDALE SHOW chairman Andrew Walton With heavy hearts , the Glendale Agricultural Society of Northumberland has announced the cancellation of both this year s Glendale Show and the society s Children’s Countryside Day. The agricultural show had been scheduled for Monday August 30, with the children s event taking place at the same Wooler venue on the more imminent date of Thursday June 10, both expecting hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors. But the society said that within the current guidelines concerning social distancing and mass gatherings, these events would just not have been able to operate . Making the announcement, chairman Andrew Walton said: “This decision has not been taken lightly, however these are challenging times and we have certainly thought long and hard about whether it would be possible for these events to go ahead this year. ....
