Almost 60 people could be sleeping rough across Edinburgh and Glasgow in the run-up to Christmas, according to Simon Community Scotland (SCS) which has called for urgent support from businesses to raise £200,000 to help them provide safe places and support.
Simon Community Scotland's CEO Lorraine McGrath has written an open letter to everyone who supported the organisation's Winter Crisis Appeal. The letter reads:
The festive season is a time when many pause to reflect on our lives at work and home. For most, our homes have been a haven like never before. Many have also spent most of our working hours at home. It’s been challenging, but can you imagine how much more difficult life would be if you had no home?
