Sher Holdings Crane, BTA Reliability, Cyclone Hydrovac, TVR, Molycop and Weir Minerals took part in the Caravan of Care fundraiser, with Jo Berry and Rick Chapman of RunClub in the escort car, from where they handed over a donation from RunClub and Runners Sole. The funds are being split evenly between the United Way’s community funds which help support groups such as the Canadian Mental health Association, Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre and Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops and A Way Home Kamloops, the latter being an agency that focuses on helping homeless youths. “It was very successful and heartfelt,” organizer Nathaniel Martin told KTW in an email regarding the fundraiser. “Many families and individuals are going to be helped by the generosity of these companies who pooled together their donations.” ....
Photograph By Keith Anderson An investigation is underway into what could be the latest in a long line of arsons plaguing the city s North Shore, police and firefighters said Sunday. RCMP and Kamloops Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a fire on McArthur Island just after midnight Sunday. Crews found a Gator ATV on fire near the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops. The blaze was quickly extinguished. Fire and Rescue assistant chief Mike Adams said it s too early to tell how the vehicle was set alight or if the incident is connected to a rash of other arson fires in North Kamloops. ....

It s called the Necessity Nook and the goal is to provide easier access to community resources, food and hygiene supplies. The club has been working with youth around food security issues even before the pandemic, but thanks to recent funding, it can offer more products and connections to resources than before, according to a Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops media release. The club s youth team have seen an increase in the need for their services as the pandemic continues, youth programs leader Abby Smith said. ....
