$80K donated by NWP, Amentum to Carlsbad organizations Nuclear Waste Partnership (NWP) and its parent company Amentum announced $80,000 in donations to schools and community organizations in Carlsbad and Hobbs. On May 12, Carlsbad MainStreet, Keep Carlsbad Beautiful and Creative Carlsbad accepted a donation of $20,000 to Carlsbad MainStreet. The funds are designated to help refurbish and beautify the downtown area around the Eddy County Courthouse through the addition of new benches and trashcans. “Carlsbad MainStreet, Pearl of the Pecos, and Keep Carlsbad Beautiful strive to improve our community and districts in every way possible. This downtown rejuvenation project is the perfect example of that. Through collaboration between all of our organizations and the generous support of the Nuclear Waste Partnership and Amentum, we will have the opportunity to start the first phase of our beautification project,” said Ashley Key, Carlsbad MainStreet’s director. ....

Someone who engaged fully and wholeheartedly in his passions, Dana Bowley, 73, of Los Lunas, died on Monday, Dec. 28. Dana Bowley 1947-2020 Many in Valencia and Socorro counties knew Bowley from his years as a reporter, editor and general manager at newspapers in those communities. Others will remember him as a devoted parishioner at St. Matthewâs Episcopal Church in Los Lunas. A founder of the church, which was completed in 2012, Bowley was a long-time member of the bishopâs committee and served as treasurer for the church. ....
