Tuesday nights looked a little different last semester.
Long and controversial meetings that marked the Senate chamber slowly became brief virtual meetings, as ideological debate among senators decreases every week.
Throughout Spring, Senate passed a total of 19 bills 11 of which were resolutions, which by definition are an expression of the Senate’s sentiments on behalf of the Student Body. No bills enabling direct change were passed.
Here’s what happened in Student Government this Spring:
Gator wins executive ticket for the second year in a row and gains further control of the Senate

The Gator Party won its second executive ticket and maintained a majority in Senate on Wednesday. There were 6,650 total ballots cast, Supervisor of Elections Haley Price announced on a live stream Wednesday evening.

Change, Keg and Gator debate diversity and funds in Spring Executive Debate

Before concluding the hour-long debate, the three parties had called each other names, questioned the others’ motives and addressed hot topic issues like traffic safety, budget management and diversity on campus.
The UF Student Government Spring Executive Debate took place Tuesday night. Three parties’ executive ticket candidates discussed topics such as UF COVID-19 guidelines, UF’s contract with food service provider Aramark and challenges in cabinet.
