This legislation comes as states across the country are trying to make media literacy a part of the school curriculum to teach students about thinking critically when consuming media, to question where the information is coming from and to differentiate fact from fiction.
This is a critical and urgent issue. We have to stop thinking about this in the terms of partisanship and really focus on what our country and children need, said Erin McNeill, president and founder of Media Literacy Now, a nonprofit that works to get media literacy education in K-12 schools across the United States.
