PITTSBURG, Kan. Southeast Kansas law enforcement agencies may not have seized any meth labs last year, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t investigating those involved in trafficking the drug. 
Nine people were arrested for methamphetamine distribution Wednesday and three more arrests were “pending” after authorities executed warrants in Allen and Neosho counties as part of an eight-month investigation called “Operation Spring Cleaning,” the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has announced.  
Those arrested Wednesday include Chanute residents Shadow McKinney, 28, Kerry Wilson, 41, Anna Stockenbrand, 31, Gina Perez, 37, Michael Naff, 35, and Markus Steeves, 47; Iola residents Ellen Fisher, 34, and Quintin Obermiller, 30; and 36-year-old Dedra Bright of Cherryville. “Pending arrests” connected to the operation include Kevin Pratt, 45, and Jessica Rogers, 39, of Iola and Ti ....

Analysis: What records show about police in Ames schools

After two girls allegedly got into a fight in the Ames Middle School restroom, an associate principal reported the incident to the school resource officer.
The officer referred the 11-year-old and 12-year-old students to juvenile court for disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor.
That same month, November 2018, Ames High School staff saw a 16-year-old boy walk out of a bathroom that purportedly smelled of marijuana. A series of resulting verbal confrontations ended with the student being escorted out of the building and charged with disorderly conduct for loud and raucous noise, according to a police log.
The Ames Tribune analyzed summaries of the 45 total incidents in which the Ames Police Department said students were charged at school during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years. Ames board votes to keep middle, high school students in hybrid model

The Ames School Board voted 4-3 Monday against returning high school and middle school students to fully in-person learning for the second semester amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 
Ames superintendent Jenny Risner recommended the Ames School Board vote to move to 100% in-person learning at the middle school and high school, but ultimately the board decided to remain in a hybrid model at the 5 p.m. board meeting. 
The students have been in a hybrid model, meeting five days every two weeks.
These are just really difficult decisions, Risner said at the meeting.  I know for the board it s very difficult, and you listen to our teachers and our staff and our parents.   ....
