bader ginsburg. chief justice john roberts made the announcement last night. she was a jurist of historic stature. he added today we mourn and confidence that future generations will remember ruth bader ginsburg. we remember her a tireless champion of justice. pete williams takes a look back on her life and legacy. reporter: ruth bader ginsburg was one of the u.s. moderate to liberal members. a lawyer and judge and justice. she believed the constitution guaranteed women greater rights. over the course of now over two centuries, it has grown and developed some more and more people are included in the concept, we the people. reporter: rejected after law school for a clerk ship because she was a woman, she started her career as a law professor. arguing a string of cases before the supreme court that made it easier to sue for sex discrimination. it was president carter who appointed her to be a federal judge. clinton put her on the supreme court. it contributes to the e
