香港電台網站 : 第四台|Maurice Allard - Bassoniste Extraordinaire

May 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Allard,
the great French bassoonist, formerly Solo Bassoon of the Paris Opera
and Professor of Bassoon at the Paris Conservatoire. Maurice Allard is
widely regarded as the greatest French bassoonist of the 20th century.
Double reed specialist and author Wai Kit Leung, who studied with
Allard’s best-known student and successor Gilbert Audin, has spent the
past 25 years researching the French bassoon and collecting Maurice
Allard recordings and stories. He has prepared this series to
celebrate this great artist and his wonderful instrument. You will
hear many rare or out-of-print recordings covering every stage of
Allard’s career (with no gap longer than 6 years), as well as stories
that you may never have heard before. You will even hear Maurice
Allard speak. ....

Martha Argerich Edition (EuroArts)
Almost eight hours of Martha Argerich on film. What a glorious prospect! This six-DVD set mostly consists of recordings of live concerts. The set was released to celebrate the great Argentinian’s 80th birthday last month. Again and again in performance, she finds depths, colours and transcendence that simply stop you in your tracks. There is a Prokofiev 3rd Concerto with the LSO and Previn recorded in Croydon in 1977, where she switches from the most delicate of dream sequences to playing which is forceful, propulsive, totally commanding. And there are those occasional pr ....

The wind sonatas are perhaps the best known, and few woodwind and horn players will not have learnt the relevant Hindemith work at some stage in their careers. Partnered by the pianist Eric Le Sage, the members of the quintet Les Vents Français, all of them front-rank soloists in their own right, give fabulously fluent performances of pieces that they have probably known since they were students.
