And so id like to actually just begin with the title. Violence inside us. And the early portion of the book where you take the reader through something of a short primer on the biology and the history of violence, and so i wanted to ask you, why begin there . Why did you choose to begin with the nature of violence itself. Guest well, thank you for doing this and really glad to toe be joining you to talk about the book. I start with this question of what kind of violence is inside us, because for me it was the first real thorny question that i came upon when i began what has become the new mission of my political career. Maybe well have a chance to talk about this a little built but while the book is mostly a history of american violence and a conversation about how we overcome that history, it also involves my own political story.

Im john vause. An historic message. Kamala harris was owe anythingly nominated as the Vice President ial candidate. She recognized she was showcased by influential woman. Barack obama leveled his strongest, most skating criticism yet of president donald trump. I never expected that my successor would embrace my vision or continue my policies. I did hope, for the sake of our country, that donald trump might show some interest in taking the job seriously, that he might come to feel the weight of the office and discover some reverence for the democracy that had been placed in his care. For close to four years now he has shown no interest in putting in the work, no interest in finding common ground, no interest in using the awesome power of his office to help anyone but himself and his friends. No interest in treating the presidency as one more reality show he can use to get the attention he craves. Donald trump hasnt grown into the job because he cant. The consequences of that failure are
