When you hear Maserati, do you imagine a 2.0-liter turbo with four cylinders? Neither do I, but ever-stringent regulations took their toll on the House of the Trident. A 48-volt alternator, an electric supercharger, and the rear-mounted battery may seem like a lot of hardware, but on the upside, the Ghibli Hybrid weighs 80 kilograms (176 pounds) less than the turbo diesel.
It’s a punchy setup as well, capable of 330 PS (325 horsepower) and 450 Nm (332 pound-feet) of torque from merely 1,500 revolutions per minute. Along with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid hits 100 kph (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds and tops 255 kph (158 mph). ....

Maserati Australia and New Zealand has announced Grant Barling will lead the company s local operations as
General Manager.
Barling was previously National Sales Manager for Maserati, but moves into the newly-created position as outgoing Chief Operations Officer Glen Sealey changes to another role within the Ateco organisation – the importer of Maserati vehicles locally.
I’m delighted to accept this new role and lead Maserati as it embarks on a new era, Mr Barling said at the announcement.
Starting his career with Toyota around three decades ago, Barling has worked in senior roles at Lexus and Audi, before moving to the luxury Italian brand. ....

JOHANNESBURG - Screaming V8 Maseratis will be no more. To prepare us for this future of electric motors and silence, the company has started to shift its local model line-up in a new direction, with the introduction of its first-ever hybridised vehicle; the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid.
WHAT IS A MASERATI GHIBLI HYBRID?
Based on the Ghibli that was launched in South Africa in 2015, albeit facelifted for 2021, the new Ghibli Hybrid is a four-door, four-seater sedan that is powered by a 2.0-litre turbopetrol four-cylinder engine thatâs mated to an e-booster (electric supercharger) and a belt-driven starter generator (BSG). Thanks to a 48-volt electrical architecture, these systems are able to work seamlessly together to provide up to 243kW of power and 450Nm of torque. ....
