The biggest news from the end of March was that Alaska Airlines was officially a member of the
oneworld alliance. Even before Alaska became an alliance member, the airline announced it would be partnering closely with American Airlines on a West Coast Alliance. To learn a little more about how that alliance developed through the crisis and the future, Simple Flying got a chance to speak with Jason Reisinger, the Managing Director of Global Network Planning at American Airlines.

American Airlines has warned in an employee memo that about 13,000 workers could be furloughed on April 1, when the latest payroll support from Congress is set to expire.
The Payroll Support Program, which was included in last year s CARES Act, was renewed through the end of March in the coronavirus relief package passed at the end of 2020. Initially, 19,000 American Airline employees were furloughed last year during stalled negotiations in Congress over the latest relief package.

One of American Airlines s largest operators of regional flights was temporarily grounded on Thursday by the Federal Aviation Administration following reports of an inspection issue with most of its aircraft.
PSA Airlines made the announcement on Twitter, saying that most of its aircraft have been removed from service.
Most of our aircraft have temporarily been removed from service to complete a standard inspection. We re working to resolve the issue and sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.- PSA Airlines (@PSAAirlinesInc) January 28, 2021
