Photos: Jared and Ivanka's Kalorama House Is Now For Rent

Movers outside Javanka s Kalorama house on Inauguration day.
Well, that was fast. Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump left DC only a day ago, and the mansion they called home for the past four years is already on the rental market, listed for $18,000 a month. The news was first reported by the
Washington Business Journal.
Movers were spotted outside the residence on Wednesday, Inauguration Day, building crates and loading up a truck. The Colonial-style abode, built in the 1920s, clocks in at just above 5,000 square feet. It’s located in DC’s ritzy Kalorama neighborhood, not far from the Obamas. During the Trump administration, it was occasionally the site of protests, including a candlelight vigil in support of protecting undocumented immigrants, and a LGBTQ dance party protest that gave us the famous shot of a fur-coat-clad neighbor taking it all in. ....

Among Donald Trump’s last-minute spate of 73 pardons: prominent DC real estate developer Douglas Jemal.
Jemal who revitalized much of Chinatown’s commercial corridor and more recently redeveloped Northeast DC’s Ivy City was convicted of wire fraud in 2006. The case against him revolved around public corruption, with prosecutors alleging the developer had bribed a DC government official to get contracts with inflated profits.
Jemal maintained his innocence, with his defense arguing that he was profitable simply because he was a good businessman. A jury acquitted Jemal of the most serious conspiracy and bribery charges, while finding him guilty of a lesser charge of wire fraud. ....

Sold in Georgetown for $17,000,000
Plank’s over-the-top mansion on 34th Street, NW, spent two years on the market before finally selling in June at a steep discount from its original asking price of $29.5 million.
Bought in Kalorama for $5,000,000
In January, the billionaire scooped up the brick mansion across the street from the former Textile Museum that he’s spent years transforming into his lavish DC compound (nicknamed the Amazon Embassy). This humbler home has four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a wine cellar, a roof deck and a direct line of sight to the old Textile Museum, which we’d wager was a big reason Bezos wanted it. ....

Remember that $70,000 Patch of Grass in Adams Morgan? Now It's a $1,450,000 Rowhouse

DC real-estate watchers might recall when a 450-square-foot triangle of land at the intersection of Florida Avenue, NW and V Street, NW in Adams Morgan was listed for $70,000 back in 2018. It went under contract for nearly twice the asking price, so someone obviously wanted it pretty badly. But online commenters wondered what could possibly be built on such a tiny, oddly shaped lot one that neighbors had mostly used as a rest stop for their dogs.
The buyer, it turns out, was developer Sean Ruppert, whose company OPaL DC has built and renovated a number of unique properties around the District. The purchase price, he explains, got inflated to $135,000 because it wound up including the cost of back taxes and fines that had accumulated on the parcel over the years. Ruppert’s vision for the long overlooked sliver of grass seems to have paid off: His company built a four-level, luxury rowhouse on it, which just hit the market for $1,450,000. ....
