Municipalities Endorse No Mow May Campaign

Communities in the Greater Moncton region are incentivizing their residents to participate in No Mow May. The Town of Riverview and the City of Dieppe announced that they are participating in the movement with contests to help spark engagement. “We were approached by the Petitcodiac Watershed Alliance (PWA) to consider the No-Mow May initiative, and it makes a lot of sense,” says Gerry Cole, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Relations for the Town of Riverview. The campaign aims to leave sources of nectar untouched so that pollinators such as bees, butterflies and hummingbirds can access them. Riverview is encouraging residents to email pictures of their unmowed lawn for a chance to win a basket of pollinator-attracting flowers and planting tools.
