An elderly woman may have lay dead in her garage for a day before being found by a relative, as police scramble to piece together how the alleged murder unfolded.
The bloodied body of Robyn Beever, 82, was found in her home in Varsity Lakes in the Gold Coast on Thursday afternoon.
Her husband Max Beever, also 82, has been charged with murder and is under police guard at Gold Coast University Hospital after a suspected drug overdose.
Detective Inspector Chris Ahearn said the elderly woman could have been dead since 6pm on Wednesday, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.
Inspector Ahearn would not elaborate further on the injuries or crime scene in detail for operational reasons , but also confirmed an axe and a belt may have been used in the alleged killing.
