A TOTAL of 114,615 Filipinos have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) from March 1 to 10, 2021.
The Department of Health (DOH) said on Friday, March 12, the number constitutes around 6.5 percent of the targeted 1.76 million healthcare workers nationwide.
It also represents around 11 percent of the over one million healthcare workers who are on the masterlist of vaccine recipients.
Nearly nine out of 10, or 101,827, were inoculated with the CoronaVac (Sinovac Biotech vaccine) while 11 percent, or 12,788, received the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine. ....

The arrival of the 600,000 doses of CoronaVac, the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) that was donated by the Chinese government and manufactured by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac Biotech Ltd., at the beginning of the month signaled a turnaround in the country’s fight against the pandemic that has ravaged the country for almost a year.
But despite national and local government officials referring to them as “doses of hope,” their arrival was met with muted enthusiasm and plenty of skepticism as the public questioned its efficacy rate of just over 50 percent.
The CoronaVac vaccines, though, are not intended for everybody. They are reserved for public and private medical workers who are exposed to Covid-19 patients. ....

CEBU CITY, March 6 (PIA) At least 24,680 doses of Sinovac Biotech s CoronaVac vaccine against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have arrived in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
The first batch of vaccines to reach the Visayas - 7,200 CoronaVac vaccine doses - which arrived on March 2, was transported to the cold storage facility of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City. ....

Healthcare workers in Cebu enjoin others to get vaccinated


CEBU CITY, March 6 (PIA) To prevent the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic from continuing, more healthcare workers have stepped forward to be vaccinated and enjoined others to do the same.
Dr. Gerardo Aquino Jr., Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) chief, received the first dose of the CoronaVac vaccine by Sinovac during the ceremonial vaccination on March 4 at the new Center for Behavioral Sciences building of the VSMMC, which signaled the start of the vaccination rollout in Cebu and the Visayas.
Doctors, COVID-19 response officials, and VSMMC medical frontliners also received the Sinovac s vaccine during the ceremonial vaccination.
Aquino said he agreed to be the first to be vaccinated to give confidence to his fellow medical frontliners to accept the vaccine that is given to them now. ....
