WBGZ Radio 2/26/2021 | By Doug Jenkins - WBGZ Radio A hybrid model of in-person and online learning has been in place at Alton’s Marquette Catholic High School since classes began in late August of last year. The school is now announcing it is ready to move to 5 days a week in-person learning. Students and their families will have that option, while those that are not comfortable in returning, can still be 100% remote. Marquette resuming daily in-person classes March 22 Ron DeBrock, [email protected] FacebookTwitterEmail Fischer ALTON All students at Marquette Catholic High School are scheduled to return to daily in-person learning starting Monday, March 22. “We implemented a thorough COVID-19 process when school started in August which has allowed all students to have full-time daily instruction in the Hybrid model,” said board president Gerard Fischer. “As a result, we have missed only one day of instruction this school year and have had very few in-school exposures. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have relied on the advice of medical, infectious disease and public health professionals,” he said. “Our committee now believes it is safe to return to a normal school day based on low positivity and quarantine rates within the school, decreasing rates in the community, and the opportunity for our faculty and staff to receive the vaccine. ....
