Oconee County high schools placed in the top 5% of the nation s public high schools in new rankings from U.S. News and World Report.
The 2021 Best High School list looked at 24,000 public high schools and ranked 18,000 on performance and college preparedness.
North Oconee High School ranked 660th nationally; it also placed 22nd among Georgia schools. Oconee County High School ranked 1,150th nationally and 32nd in the state.
“Both North Oconee High School and Oconee County High School have longstanding traditions of academic excellence, and I commend them for once again being recognized among the top high schools in the nation,” Superintendent Jason L. Branch said.
