Covid-19 crisis: NDMC preparing 50 beds with piped oxygen facility at RBIPMT

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is preparing 50 beds with piped oxygen facility for Covid patients at the Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine and Tuberculosis (RBIPMT) in GTB Nagar.
After inspecting the preparations along with municipal commissioner Sanjay Goel on Saturday, North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash said, Due to increasing Covid cases in the city, the NDMC has decided to start 50 beds with piped oxygen facility for Corona patients at the RBIPMT. Initially, 50 beds are being prepared, after which all efforts will be made to increase the numbers to 100. Oxygen facility will be available for the patients in each bed. ....

5 rescued from blaze at house in south Delhi's Greater Kailash locality

Five people were rescued from a house fire in south Delhi s Greater Kailash locality early Sunday, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said.
A DFS official said information regarding the blaze was received at 4.18 am and four fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
The fire originated at the first floor of the building in Greater Kailash-2 and trapped those living above, the official said.
Five people were rescued safely from the second floor and they have been identified as Shivani (27), Bharat (35), Naveet (31), C R Ram (60) and Romil (57), a senior fire official said.
In a separate incident, a major fire broke out at Shastri Park area of the national capital late Saturday night, the official said. ....

Delhi Municipal Council is No 1 in Centre's 'Municipal Performance Index'

The New Delhi Municipal Council, which covers the high-security Lutyens zone of the national capital, was ranked number one in the Centre s Municipal Performance Index in the less than a million population category.
According to the index released by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday, in the million plus population category, Indore secured the top position while South Delhi, East Delhi and North Delhi were ranked 28th, 42nd and 48th respectively among the 51 cities.
New Delhi Municipal Council topped the chart in the population less than million category.
It was followed by the civic bodies of Tirupati, Gandhinagar, Karnal, Salem, Tiruppur, Bilaspur, Udaipur, Jhansi and Tirunelveli which were among the 60 civic bodies which were in contention in the below one million category. ....

Smart roads, dedicated toilets for third gender, public e-charging stations, drinking water fountains, sewage treatment plants, setting up of an Integrated Command and Control Centre and not imposing any new tax for the next financial year, are among the plans listed by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in its annual budget announced on Wednesday.
The civic body s chairman Dharmendra, presented a budget with a moderate surplus of Rs 136.18 crore in the current financial year and Rs 172.47 crore for financial year 2021-22 reflecting its commitment to a well governed and financially sustainable municipal body.
NDMC has not proposed any new tax for the next financial year in spite of a number of reliefs granted this year. In parallel, NDMC reported completion of major projects like integrated command and control centre this year and a series of projects for the next financial year focusing on uninterrupted power supply, other civic services and strengthening its inte ....
