Appointment of an ombudsman 'has been delayed by Covid-19 disruption'

A PUBLIC-SECTOR ombudsman cannot be introduced in Jersey next year as planned due to the disruption caused by Covid-19, the Council of Ministers have said in response to a Government Plan amendment.

Jersey’s political leaders have lodged a series of their own amendments in response to 21 that were lodged by States Members ahead of next week’s debate of the plan, which sets out government finances for 2021 to 2024.
The Children, Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel had lodged a proposal to reverse a planned cut of £378,000 of funding set aside to introduce the public-sector ombudsman in 2021. ....
