Engie and Bromsgrove District Council have launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging network.
Powered by Engie’s GeniePoint network, it will provide Bromsgrove-registered taxi drivers with the opportunity to charge their EVs free of charge for the first year.
With further substantial discounts offered for the next nine years, it is hoped the initiative will encourage more drivers to make the shift towards adopting EVs.
A total of 13 GeniePoint Network rapid chargers will be installed and will be available for use by the public as well as other businesses making the change to EVs.
Jerry Moloney, managing director for Engie’s Futures business, said that the rollout is an exciting step towards improving EV infrastructure in the locality and, with discounts offered to Bromsgrove-registered taxi drivers, he hopes it will encourage a great number of drivers to make the switch to an EV. ....

New electric charging points to launch across Bromsgrove

A NETWORK of electric vehicle (EV) charging points are to launch across Bromsgrove, with local taxi drivers to receive a years’ worth of charging for free.
The first of thirteen ‘GeniePoint Network’ rapid chargers was installed last week at Windsor Street Car Park in Bromsgrove town centre.
The scheme, which is provided by ENGIE EV solutions, is part of a project to support Bromsgrove’s Ultra Low Emission Strategy.
Judith Willis, head of service covering Bromsgrove District Council’s Climate Change processes said: “I am very proud of the hard work which has been done by our officers and our partners at Engie and BMM Energy Solutions to ensure that, even during the pandemic, the new chargers will soon be in full use for both EV car owners and taxi drivers. ....

Whitbread has signed a deal with ENGIE to
install up to a thousand GeniePoint Network rapid charging points
in the UK.
Installations will begin with 600 committed over the next three
years.
Whitbread, owner of brands including Premier Inn hotels and
restaurants Beefeater and Brewers’ Fayre, has more car park
locations in the UK than the NCP.
Access to the charging points will be for guests as well as
members of the public using ENGIE’s GeniePoint Network and will
ensure electric car owners can relax knowing there are even more ....
