CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Daily Star and the Navajo Times won top honors in the Arizona Newspapers Association’s annual awards announced Saturday. The Arizona Daily Star in Tucson earned Arizona Newspaper of the Year in the daily category.
Fleshing out the trends: May-August 2020 NI reporters produced a steady stream of in-depth reporting during the initial peak infection period in the community, asking questions about the response and continuing to flesh out the secondary impacts of the pandemic. We also dug into some other interesting trends, particularly those related to law enforcement.
Nogales International
Jose Luis Huerta, a student at Nogales High School, dipped into his savings to buy material and make face masks for his mother Karizma Valencia to donate to others. He was one of a number of local residents who answered the call for homemade cloth face masks to be used in the fight against the coronavirus.
