Ndubuisi Kanu, former military administrator of Imo and Lagos states, former chairman of Ndigbo Lagos and a major pillar of the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, reportedly died of COVID-19 complications in Lagos at the early hours of yesterday.

❚ You already voted!   Rear Admiral (retired) Ndubuisi Godwin Kanu has died from COVID-19 complications at 78, Igbere TV can confirm. Speaking to this newspaper’s correspondent under the condition of anonymity on Wednesday, a source close to the family of the deceased confirmed that he died in the early hours of Wednesday.   Ndubuisi Kanu was appointed military governor of Imo State, Nigeria in March 1976 during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo. He was the first governor after the decree that established the state from part of the old East Central State. He was transferred to become governor of Lagos State in 1977, leaving office in July 1978.
