A missing case file is delaying bail for two people remanded in prison custody on trumped-up charges following their petition against a Divisional Police Officer, one CSP Benjamin Ugwui for alleged extortion and demand for refund. The registrar of the Magistrate court that remanded the two victims of police brutality said the file had been dispatched, but the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) reportedly denied receiving the said file.
However, the excitement of the residents, mainly farmers, is being tainted as they are being deprived of their land which had served as their major source of livelihood.
Justice Ngozi Orji of the Enugu State High Court has fixed Tuesday, December 12, to rule on the bail application of Ikechukwu Uduji and his boss, Ikechukwu Okolie, who were remanded in prison custody for petitioning against the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Awgu Police Division, CSP Benjamin Ugwui for extortion and demanding for refund.
Policemen working with the Divisional Police Officer, Awgu Police Division, CSP Benjamin Ugwui, have reportedly brutalised and broken the hand of Ikechukwu Uduji, a man who was arraigned with his boss, Ikechukwu Okolie, on a trumped-up charge of attempted murder. Pictures of the police attack on both Uduji and Okolie which SaharaReporters obtained on Wednesday, showed the broken left hand of Uduji at the prison custody in Enugu State.
The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has reportedly ordered the arrest and arraignment of one Ikechukwu Uduji (23) and Ikechukwu Okolie (38) for allegedly writing a petition against his Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Awgu Police Division, CSP Benjamin Ugwui for extortion and demand for refund.
