Military plane transporting troops crashes in the Philippines | Philippines News

At least 45 people have died and dozens were injured when a Philippines Air Force plane carrying troops crashed and burst into flames after missing the runway in the country’s south.
The Department of National Defence said 45 people had been killed, including three civilians on the ground, while 53 were injured, including four civilians. Five military personnel were still missing.
The C-130 Hercules transport plane had at least 96 people on board when it crashed about midday on Sunday.
According to the military, the three pilots who were onboard the aircraft survived the crash but were seriously injured.
Earlier, General Cirilito Sobejana told reporters that at least 40 people have been rescued from the burning wreckage of the C-130. ....

MANILA, July 4 (Xinhua) A Philippine Air Force (PAF) C-130 Hercules transport plane with 92 people aboard crashed on Sunday while attempting to land on Jolo island in Sulu province in the southern Philippines, killing 17 and and injuring 40 others.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said in a statement that among the 92 personnel on board the plane, three are pilots and five are crew members, with the rest being Army personnel reporting for duty.
Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, Lorenzana added.
Armed Forces of the Philippine chief of staff General Cirilito Sobejana said earlier the plane was transporting troops from Cagayan de Oro City on Mindanao island when it crashed around 11:30 a.m. local time on Jolo island. ....

Philippines military chief General Cirilito Sobejana on Sunday said a C-130 plane carrying more than 80 soldiers had crashed during take-off.
It s very unfortunate, Sobejana told reporters. The plane missed the runway and it was trying to regain power but failed and crashed.
