José (Pepe) Suárez Núñez, periodista cubano radicado en Venezuela desde 1963, ese mismo año publicó un libro con este título para saldar sus cuentas con Fulgencio Batista, a quien admite que sirvió con lealtad incluso después de su derrocamiento, el 1º de enero de 1959, hasta los primeros meses de su azaroso exilio, empezando en Santo Domingo hasta recalar en Funchal, islas Madeira, Portugal.
Ya en el subtítulo de la obra introduce la interrogante de “cómo 12 guerrilleros aniquilaron a 45.000 soldados”, aclarando después que esto sería imposible sin los errores estratégicos y tácticos, la subestimación del adversario, desatinos solo explicables por la psicología de Batista, su soberbia, mezquindad, desidia y falta de voluntad para el combate, lo que llevó a la convicción de sus subalternos que “Batista no quiere capturar a Fidel Castro”. ....

In his recent “Remembering the Bay of Pigs and its Aftermath, Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Will Sellers blames the Bay of Pigs fiasco, the Vietnam War, and everything else he considers “bad foreign policy” on President John F. Kennedy (a Democrat, for you youngsters).
By not presenting “the rest of the story,” Justice Sellers argues that U.S. foreign policy was driven by the Kennedy “machismo” as JFK tried to make up for his “failures” during his oh-too-short 2 ½ year presidency. Justice Sellers can’t remember much about those years because he was born in 1963, the year Kennedy was assassinated, but he asserts, “…the world appeared stable and controllable.” ....
