A 48-year-old taxi driver charged with using a slingshot to fire stones at buses, cars and restaurants in Bangkok has told police he was stressed out and felt a need to vent his feelings.
Phaiwan Aechaiyaphum was arrested at a rented room in Suksawat area late Wednesday night, Pol Lt Gen Phukphong Phongpetra, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said on Thursday.
He allegedly used a slingshot in a series of attacks on restaurants and at buses and cars at the tunnel under Ratchada-Sutthisan intersection between March 19 and April 27. ....

Police are under fire after being accused of attacking a volunteer medic during a pro-democracy protest on Saturday night that ended with eight demonstrators detained and 20 wounded.
Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) chief Phukphong Phongpetra, however, said the person was not a professional medical staff member but a volunteer for a group that provided first aid and was allegedly among the people who instigated the incident.

Three drug gang suspects have been arrested in Saraburi and Phetchabun provinces, and three vehicles used to convoy drugs and about 2 million methamphetamine pills seized.
The three men were identified as Thanin Phuengkaew, 41, his nephew Thawatchai Phuengkaew, 25, and Thongthap Chanthayod, 51, all from Phetchabun’s Lom Sak district,  Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt Gen Phukphong Phongpetra told reporters on Tuesday.
Police seized 2.1 million meth pills, a pickup truck used to carry the drugs and two other vehicles, a BMW and a pickup, used for scouting ahead along the smugglers route. ....

Police arrest 3 alleged ping-pong bombers

Three guards of a pro-democracy protest group have been arrested for allegedly throwing ping-pong bombs at crowd control police during a protest at Sam Yan on Jan 17.
The three suspects were identified as Pornchai Prakaphuang, 23, Natthasut Siriat, 19 and Weerayut Samritruangsri, 29. They were arrested and charged with physically assaulting on-duty officers, throwing bombs, having weapons in a public place without good reason and possessing explosives without a permit.
The three were apprehended, while the clothes they wore on Jan 17 and two motorcycles they used while throwing the bombs were confiscated, police said.
Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Phukphong Phongpetra said yesterday that the explosions at Sam Yan injured five people, including three police officers. ....

Thanit: Combined effects can be fatal
A physician at the Police General Hospital who conducted a test on two samples of seized powdered milk ketamine , found near dead victims on Tuesday, revealed that the tests detected the presence of four substances ketamine, heroin, ecstasy and a sleeping pill called diazepam.
Pol Maj Gen Thanit Jirananthawat said the combined effects of the various drugs, which together harm human organs, can easily be fatal.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Phukphong Phongpetra on Tuesday gave an update regarding investigations into the ketamine that has so far killed seven people. ....
