ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Thursday decided to initiate a criminal inquiry against major players of the Broadsheet an international assets recovery firm saga and reopen the Swiss bank accounts case against PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari.
The cabinet took these decisions in the light of a 61-page inquiry report of the commission comprising retired Justice Azmat Sheikh relating to Broadsheet LLC and other matters.
“We have decided to initiate an inquiry against main players of Broadsheet scandal Pakistan’s former high commissioner in UK Abdul Basit, joint secretary of law ministry Ghulam Rasool, senior lawyer Ahmer Bilal Sufi, director audit and accounts in Pakistan’s High Commission in UK Shahid Ali Baig, Hassan Saqib Shaikh, a civil servant, and Tariq Fawad Malik as these persons have been declared main accused in the inquiry report,” federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said at ....

The inquiry commission constituted to investigate the Broadsheet scandal Thursday said no institution except the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cooperated with it, adding that the bureaucracy made every attempt to conceal the evidence.

The one-man inquiry commission constituted to investigate the Broadsheet scandal said in its report that no institution except the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cooperated with it.
The commission, comprising retired Supreme Court Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh, said that the record related to UK-based firm Broadsheet LLC was missing almost everywhere including the Pakistan High Commission in London .
The head of the mission did not consider it necessary to record the statements of Broadsheet owner Kaveh Moussavi and Tariq Fawad Malik who was part of the firm s team in Pakistan. ....

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan pledged to pay Rs5.6 billion to five international law firms from 2003 to 2009 to dig out the looted money allegedly stashed by Pakistani nationals especially Asif Zardari, Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif into their accounts abroad, informed officials told Geo News Sunday.
