POLICE have appealed to the public to come forward with information that could lead to the arrests of the suspects behind a triple murder and attempted murder cases in Leiden, Delft.
A 22-year-old woman and two men, 39 and 28, died on the scene while a 13-year-old girl and a 33-year-old woman sustained serious gunshot wounds.
They were taken to hospital for medical attention.
“Reports indicate that an unknown number of suspects started firing several shots on the corner of Umvoti and Sabi Streets at 7.05pm (Tuesday) fatally wounding three persons and injuring two. The incident is believed to be gang related,” said police spokesperson Novela Potelwa. ....

Cape Town - Shootings in different parts of Mitchells Plain continue unabated with the latest incident being an attempted murder of a 33-year-old man who was shot in the stomach Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said the man was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
“The incident occurred this morning (Tuesday) at about 9.30am at Moses Kotler, Lentegeur,” she said.
No arrests have yet been made. Lentegeur Community Policing Forum chairperson Byron de Villiers said the area had been experiencing daily shootings between a gang from New Woodlands and Heinz Park. ....

Local community police forum chairperson Gavin Walbrugh alleged that the drive-by shooting was gang related.
He said:
The injured child was believed to have been playing outside. It s so much more upsetting when innocents are hurt – the child was shot in the side and the bullet exited through the stomach.
The erratic nature of a drive-by shooting means bullets can go anywhere , he said.
It s rapid fire. They drive and shoot and that shots can go into someone s house, through a window, at children playing outside. And these gangsters are ruthless when a target is in sight and they have a job to do. It s terrible. ....
