What it was like to manage TISM in the 1980s By Gavan Purdy; as told to August Billy Former TISM manager Gavan Purdy takes us on a trip down memory lane, telling of how he first came across the band in 1984 and the relationship that eventuated from there. Australia’s premier iconoclasts TISM are in the midst of a comprehensive reissue campaign, unearthing much-loved bootleg recordings and rarities via the DRW Entertainment label. The latest instalment includes a vinyl pressing of the band’s very first demo tape, ‘This Is Serious Mum’, which was recorded to cassette in 1984. There’s also ‘Punt Road’, a 1987 rehearsal recording captured ahead of the single release of ’40 Years – Then Death’. ....
TISM Hit The Vaults For Three More Releases TISM, Melbourne’s Alternative Rock/Alternative Dance/Synthpop/Dance-Rock legends of the 80s, have prepared three more releases from their vaults for impending release. Cassette recordings of 1984 indie tracks once sold at Uni gigs as ‘This Is Serious Mum’ will be released on Opaque Yellow vinyl for the very first time. ‘Punt Road’ from 1987 rehearsals is also on the way on green vinyl and then ‘Mistah Eliot – He Wanker’ will be released as a 7 inch 750 copies limited edition for Record Store Day. Note to self: ‘Mistah Eliot – He Wanker’ would make a great theme song for the 3AW Drive show. ....
