The founder of Gateway Rehab died Sunday after battling COVID-19. 
Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski, founder of one of the largest recovery networks in the region, a renowned author, psychiatrist and humanitarian, died Sunday in Jerusalem. He was 90. 
Dr. Twerski’s influence across our region, country and world is extraordinary. He opened the doors of Gateway Rehabilitation Center in 1972 with the Sisters of St. Francis. He pioneered addiction treatment and led the way for so many to achieve their recovery. He personally touched the lives of thousands of individuals and families who have battled the disease of addiction, Gateway Rehab wrote on its Facebook page.  ....

(JTA) Rabbi Dr. Abraham J. Twerski, the scion of multiple Hasidic dynasties, author of more than 60 books, and a physician who became a leading authority on drug treatment and addiction, has died.
Twerski was 90 and had been battling COVID-19 in Israel, according to Yeshiva World News.
Born in Milwaukee into a family of incomparably distinguished rabbinic stock, Twerski was descended on his father’s side from Rabbi Menachem Nachum Twersky, the founder of the Chernobyl Hasidic dynasty also known the Me’or Einayim, a work of Torah commentary he authored. His mother was the daughter of the Bobover Hasidic rebbe. ....
