Burdette “Burt” Shipman, 85, of Fort Dodge, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 18, 2021, in the Chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Snook officiating. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Karen Shipman of Fort Dodge; children, Randy (Roxanne) Shipman of Fort Dodge, Mark (Holly) Shipman of Denton, TX, Cindy (Dave) Roberts of Harlingen, TX, and Kim (Joe) Kesterson of Denton, TX; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George “Oscar” and Marvyl (Hinton) Shipman; daughter, Brenda Shipman; 6 brothers and 6 sisters. Burdette Edwin Shipman was born April 1, 1935, in Fort Dodge. He attended area schools and joined the United States Navy as soon as he turned 17. He served until his Honorable Discharge in February of 1955. On January 20, 1956, he was united ....
