River floods lead some Vestal residents to evacuate Unmute VESTAL (WBNG) Some residents in Vestal woke up Friday morning to more of a wet Christmas than a white one. Local law enforcement was advising and informing residents about the rising water levels near or on their properties. Joseph Abisaid, the owner of the Vestal Diner, said he was stunned this morning. At midnight it was so bad, said Abisaid, adding that a friend told him to look outside his house late last night as the rain continued to fall and the water rose. Abisaid said he saw a little water in the basement, but as it continued to rapidly rise outside, he decided to pack up his valuables in multiple cars and was ready to go. ....
