Aberdeen visual inspection company secures funding to advance its technology

Aberdeen-based AIR Control Entech has been awarded £175,000 to further advance its previously developed 4G technology to 5G.
The certified remote inspection technology specialist, which streamed the world’s first live offshore inspection in 2017, received the grant from the UK Research and Innovation through the Future Flight Challenge.
It will be used to further establish remote digital connectivity for the firm’s drones, crawlers and ROV services by providing live stream capability between engineers and the asset being inspected. This technological advancement will reduce the number of key personnel needed offshore. ....

Bristol's Smart Internet Lab helps accelerate UK's capabilities in drone operations - sUAS News

Experts from the University of Bristol are among a UK-wide consortium that is pushing the boundaries of drone development and aviation capabilities.
The consortium of 16 entities, led by specialist drone command and control solution developer, sees.ai, and including aviation, aerospace and industry giants BAE Systems, NATS and Sellafield, has won a share of Â£30 million to develop and test a remotely operated drone system for industrial and urban environments.
The futuristic system will enable remote inspection and monitoring of industrial sites such as nuclear, construction and oil and gas, as well as urban sites in the public domain including road and rail and telecoms infrastructure, and live emergency services support. ....

Hyundai Gets UK Government Grant For Passenger Drone Airport Hub

Earlier this year Cadillac revealed a concept for a quadcopter drone-like flying car at CES. But it’s not the only one who is exploring flying cars, as well as the necessary infrastructure.
Hyundai and the UK government are actually partnering with Urban Air Port to launch the world’s first “hub for future electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.”
According to Hyundai’s press release, the hub, which is being called “Air-One,” will launch later this year. It sounds like that will mean some demonstration runs will be run from the hub (which is in Coventry) to show how much less traffic there would be if we were all flying. ....

Hyundai working on 'Urban Air Port' in UK

The project is aimed at providing practical infrastructure for electric VTOL craft that could transport people and goods around cities in the future
Hyundai Motor Group, Coventry City Council and the UK Government have partnered with Urban Air Port to launch what is described as the world s first site – Air One – to demonstrate the potential of urban air mobility for the UK and worldwide.
The Urban Air Mobility Division of Hyundai Motor Group has chosen Urban Air Port as its priority infrastructure partner to support global growth of this new sector. The South Korean company plans to create its own e-VTOL aircraft and support the broader urban air mobility eco-system. Hyundai Motor Group is supporting the development of Air-One as part of its plan to commercialise its aircraft by 2028. ....
