  Waterford FC have progressed to the second round of the FAI Centenary Senior Cup after a most crazy contest with Athlone Town ended in a 4-4 draw after extra-time with Blues keeper Paul Martin the hero saving twice in the shootout as his side won 4-2 on spot kicks. Anthony Wordsworth gave Waterford the lead on 40 minutes when he latched onto a loose clearance from Garry Comerford to drill the ball past Kayleum Rice before it got better for the Blues seven minutes into the second-half when Shane Griffin rifled an angled left-footed shot past Rice after good work from Quitirna.
