UPPER DARBY â A smoky basement fire kept Upper Darby Township firefighters busy Friday morning at a home on the 400 block of Eaton road.
Firefighters were alerted just before 11 a.m. for the dwelling fire. First arriving units found smoke from the eaves, a sign of a serious fire.
Ladder trucks from Garrettford Drexel Hill and Upper Darby station 37 placed their aerials to the roof to prepare to open the roof up as other crews stretched hoses into the home to control the blaze.
âWhen crews got here there was heavy smoke throughout the whole building and coming from the eaves,â said Deputy Chief Keith Yashin. âThey went into service with two lines and the fire was put out rapidly with minimal damage to the property.â
